Music magazine Mood board

I chose to include these band images into my mood board because they are in the genre of 'indie'. 'Indie' is the genre I am aiming my magazine to be at. I want to meet an audience of people interested in this type of music genre. I have included the shoe brand 'vans' and the festival Reading because a high number of people into the music genre indie are normally dressed in vans shoes and also attend many festivals such as reading. Reading festival is known as an indie festival. All these pictures represent a certain type of person related to 'indie' which represents the genre and audience of my magazine.

Magzine layout

I chose to lay out my magazine this way because it is simple and therefore easier for the reader to take in. From the analysis of other magazines, the layout they have is also simple with the way they all put the title at the top of the page and not in the middle.

On the front cover, most magazines have a main picture on who their magazine is going to be on. This means that it is popular to do this so I will do it on my magazine. Also, on the contents page, more smaller pictures are used on different things included in the magazines, such as; other interviews, make-up/fashion pages. This is why I have chosen to make space on my contents pages for other pictures.
Lastly, on the double page spread all the magazines I have looked at involve the interview on one side, and a large poster type picture on the other. However, I have decided to put the interview on both sides of the magazine so it is more spread out and more pictures can be involved in them.

I decided to take my media pictures this way because it makes it look as though they are having a lot of fun and not being serious. The way they are all having a joke around and laugh together makes them look like they are easy going fun characters. I wanted this to go on my magazine so that people saw them as them type of characters and didn't want them to be seen as grumpy people.
The boys I have chosen to use also dress in a casual but fashionable type of way. This is what I wanted to use in my magazine because it meant that the boys are seen as being in a typical boy band, but with a little bit of fashion people may use them as role models in that way. This is because the way pictures are pursued in magazines, people look to see how celebrities are dressed and then go on to dress themselves in that way.
